Sen. Christensen today introduced LB 1016 which seeks the creation of the Nebraska Statewide Water Planning Commission, whose members would be appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Legislature. The bill indicates the duties of the commission would include developing a statewide plan for the future use of water in the state; maintaining and maximizing the use of water in the state; creating a plan to manage the state’s water resources to encourage economic health and prosperity; and to make recommendations to the Governor and the Legislature for achieving the goals set forth in the plan developed.
