(GRAND ISLAND INDEPENDENT) The Grand Island Independent reports, "Despite the driest year on record in 2012 with less than 12 inches of precipitation that kept irrigation pumps running nearly non-stop during the growing season, the Central Platte Natural Resources District reported last week that that there is more groundwater in storage in 2012 than in 1982."
