(KEARNEY HUB) The Kearney Hub reports, "Rainfall along the North Platte River is causing headaches for water managers up stream as they try to keep the river within its banks, and yet release enough water from the system's reservoirs to provide room for additional inflow from the snowmelt in the Rocky Mountains.
Cool temperatures, combined with sporadic rain and hail storms are maintaining high soil moisture content. This means irrigators do not have to take water from the system for their crops. Pathfinder Irrigation District has shut down for the time being, after the Inland Lakes were filled and there was not enough demand to keep the canal running. Goshen Irrigation District and Gering/Fort Laramie districts are still making deliveries, but without any definite plans for the future."
