Rumblings of contaminated drinking water surfaced during the weekend in the wake of heavy rains that overloaded the city's sanitary sewer system and caused flooding in basements throughout the city, including City Hall, which had about 8 inches of water in the basement when employees arrived on Monday morning. Bottled water flew off the shelves at local grocery stores as the rumors spread."
