(NORTH PLATTE TELEGRAPH) The North Platte Telegraph reports, "Nebraska lawmakers debated Monday whether to go back on a deal worked out three years ago to fund water management efforts in the state.The Legislature adjourned for the day before voting on Legislative Bill 689, introduced by State Sen. Chris Langemeier of Schuyler.The bill would eliminate a three-fifths of a cent per bushel checkoff on corn and grain sorghum as of Oct. 1, 2012.Proceeds from the checkoff were to go into the state's Water Resources Cash Fund, which was created in 2007 as part of a major water management package."
