"Grants will help groups continue invasive eradication efforts, measure water"

(KEARNEY HUB) The Kearney Hub reports, "Two Hub Territory conservation project providers have received up to six-figure grants from the Nebraska Environmental Trust.

The Twin Valley Weed Management Area will receive $545,500 for its Eastern Republican Riparian Improvement Project for control of invasive riparian plants along the Republican River and its tributaries within the eight counties. The tools include mechanical, biological and chemical methods.

The focus now is on mechanical removal of debris and deep disking river islands to enhance streamflows from the Cambridge Diversion to the Nebraska-Kansas state line. TVWMA officials also will work on a plan, with input from landowners adjoining the river, for future river maintenance."
