"Lesson to be learned from wild weather, water supply swings: No such thing as normal"

(KEARNEY HUB) The Kearney Hub reports "Nebraska farmers, reservoir managers, wildlife habitat interests and people who like to spend their summers at lakes will remember the first decade of the 21st century for its weather extremes.

The early years of drought were compared to the 1930s Dust Bowl years, with limited rainfall, high demand for irrigation and depleted reservoirs.

The decade ended with full reservoirs and an irrigation season delayed into mid-July for many farmers because of greater-than-normal rainfall in the late spring and early summer."
