"UNL tries to teach about storm water contamination"

(LINCOLN JOURNAL STAR) The Lincoln Journal Star reports, "The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Extension offices is trying to teach people about the problems storm water runoff can cause.

The university received a $544,000 federal grant to help pay for the program over the next three years.

Storm water runoff can contribute to flooding and pollute streams, rivers and lakes with sediment, fertilizers and automotive fluids.

Extension Educator Kelly Feehan says the program will teach people ways to manage storm water with greenspace and other strategies.

The program is focusing on the cities of Scottsbluff, North Platte, Lexington, Kearney, Grand Island, Hastings, Columbus, Norfolk, Fremont and Beatrice."
