"Settlement reached in two groundwater contamination cases, third case may resume"

(GRAND ISLAND INDEPENDENT) The Grand Island Independent reports "The legal challenge over contaminated groundwater between some Grand Island homeowners and the international agricultural company Cargill appears to be over.

A letter filed with the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis, Mo. indicates there's a settlement in the works.

Lead plaintiff Joan Schwan of Grand Island confirmed there is work ongoing regarding a settlement.

Her attorney, Lemuel Srolovic, of Weitz and Luxenberg in New York, and Cargill spokesman David Feider in Minneapolis released a joint statement Wednesday that said "a settlement has been reached."
