(HASTINGS TRIBUNE) The Hastings Tribune reports "Nearly $4 million in federal money could flow to the Lower Republican Natural Resources District over the next five years through a grant the district has received to assist water conservation efforts.
Officials discussed terms of the Agricultural Water Enhancement Program grant with the district’s board of directors Thursday during the board’s regular July meeting in Alma.
The LRNRD, which encompasses Furnas, Harlan, Franklin, most of Webster and southern Nuckolls counties, is mired in difficulties related to Nebraska and Kansas’ long-running dispute over Republican River water. Nebraska is seeking ways to reduce its water usage and send more river water downstream to its neighboring state."
