(KEARNEY HUB) The Kearney Hub reports, "Kansas officials are again asking the U.S. Supreme Court to require Nebraska to meet terms of a 2003 settlement decree for Republican River Compact compliance.
According to a press release from the Kansas Department of Agriculture, Kansas Attorney General Steve Six asked the U.S. Supreme Court today to enforce the decree in the Kansas v. Nebraska lawsuit settlement. It outlines each state’s rights to water in the Republican River Basin.
The filing includes Kansas officials’ longstanding argument that Nebraskans have violated the compact and failed to take actions necessary to avoid future violations, especially in inevitable dry periods to come."
