(KEARNEY HUB) The Kearney Hub reports "Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District officials managed depleted water supplies for most of this decade to save every drop possible in Lake McConaughy.
Now, in a year of plenty, with Big Mac and Wyoming reservoirs upstream on the North Platte River all nearly full, they’re still scratching their heads as they decide on the best water management plan.
“We have flipped completely to the other end of where we operated for the last five years,” CNPPID Natural Resources Manager Mike Drain said at Monday’s Central board meeting in Holdrege."
