(LINCOLN JOURNAL STAR) The Lincoln Journal Star reports, "Natural resources districts across Nebraska may be able to levy per-acre taxes on irrigated farmland. Lawmakers on Tuesday gave first-round approval to a bill (LB862) supporters say will help tackle the issue of how to pay for solutions to some of the Nebraska's water problems. The bill would allow districts that have developed water-management plans with the state to levy the tax now confined to the Republican River basin.
