(LINCOLN JOURNAL STAR) The Lincoln Journal Star reports "In a bluntly worded opinion released Friday, the Nebraska Supreme Court rejected a request from Lake McConaughy's owner to reinstate its lawsuit against an upstream natural resources district blamed for reducing flows into the big lake.
The high court said Holdrege-based Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District, which owns Lake McConaughy, failed to allege that it was harmed by groundwater use allowed by the North Platte Natural Resources District. And the court said Central doesn't have legal standing to challenge the NRD's use of water based upon the interests of Central's constituents -- such as farmers who get irrigation water, and the public that plays on Big Mac."
